In service since 1875, she has borne witness to two world wars, the Great Depression, multiple presidential assassinations, the Civil Rights Movement, 9/11 and now the COVID-19 pandemic. Lakeside, 168 Highway 50, announced Tuesday through an email newsletter and a post on its website that it is permanently closing after 35 years “of being a source of entertainment for thousands of guests.” The closure includes all areas of the business including the casino, restaurant and hotel.
